Marit Jenssen

Hi there!!

I am Marit Jenssen, and have the kennel Skin Deep, wich has been my kennel prefix since 1992.
My passion for dogs and animals in common, started the day I was born…just ask my parents…!! :o) I have worked with dogs all my life, in the beginning mostly other peoples dogs since I couldent have a dog my self, due to my fathers allergy.
I was “ adopted “ at the Military School for dogs in Drøbak, and followed the training sessions, and was allowed to walk the kindest bitches…and there I learned a lot about dog behaviour.  In the mid nineties I learned a lot of Karen Pryor, with clicker training and Turid Rugaas about body language and how the dog communicate. Helps me greatly in the work I put in my dogs about handeling and showing.

In 1989 my first Basset Hound came into my house, Slowmotion Star Attraction, he became a multiplie BIS and Group winner, and he made me interested in showing!
I had my first litter in 1992 and have produced 5 Champions during the years, also several had prizes from tracking competitions. In 2006 a Skin Deep Basset Hound was the Top Winning Basset in Norway, and that year I ended my relationship with Basset Hound.

Almost all the time I have had Basset I have wanted to be owned by a Dachs, but two hunting breeds at the same time was out of the question. I am now the happy owner of five gorgous Dachses, and have had my first litter in 2007.

In 2002 I was lucky enough to have a Boston Terrier for the first time, and during the time I have had 5 litter of this great breed. I have imported two males, one from Tasmania and one from Canada, two goodlooking boys that have done a lot for me in my breeding program.

I strive to breed good conformation and temperament and follow very strict health clearance for my breedingstock.

I have a great pleasure in breeding and showing my dogs, and after almost 20 years of hard work, Kennel Skin Deep now have good results in both arenas.

Some time ago I was lucky enough to meet Lene Wang, a young girl that has the same passion for dogs and animals that I had and of cource still have…Lene is living with us this year due to her school is not far away from us. I will include her in my kennel, so read her presentation of her self.
